Huricane Ike caused major damage all along the coasts of Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana. And, once again, the areas are working hard to remove debris, make repairs and get back to something loosely referred to as "normal life". Just as in other parts of the country, people who live along the coastal waters accept what Mother Nature throws at them. Whereas this area tolerates an occassional hurricane, others have to deal with tornados, snow and freezing temperatures, excessive rain, earthquakes and the like. Although some may question why people in specific locales put up with it all, it all boils down to what you're willing to learn to live with. And sometimes it's hard to understand why people tolerate what's natural in their own little corners of the world. Man cannot control everything, although there usually is a strong tendency to try. Earth started without man, and may end that way, too. About all we can do is make the best of what we have, or leave one region for another. But remember, the grass always looks greener on the other side of the fence.
